What you’ll need
- These ingredients call for a 9 inch crust that serves two people.
- ¾ cup of uncooked quinoa
- ¼ cup water
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- ¼ tsp. salt
- Cooking spray, butter or coconut oil (which ever you prefer)
The first step is to put the quinoa into a bowl and pour the water over the top. The best method is to let the quinoa soak overnight (for at least 8 hours). This is the perfect amount of time for the quinoa to become the consistency you need.
The next step (after overnight soaking) is to drain the quinoa and rinse completely. Once you have rinsed the quinoa you’ll need to place it into a clean bowl. Add the salt and baking powder and blend in a food processor or blender. Whichever you choose to use is perfectly acceptable. The quinoa needs to be blended down to a smooth batter, and then you’ll know its done being blended.
The next step is the grab a round baking pan (8-9 inch). Line the pan with a thin layer of baking sheet. It may help to spray the pan with cooking spray (or butter or coconut oil) before placing the baking sheet done. That way you know that nothing with stick to the pan. Also, make sure you spray the paper with cooking spray (or butter or coconut oil) too. You want to make sure you have a clean crust that doesn’t stick to the pan or the baking sheet.
After the pan is prepped and ready to go, pour the batter into the pan and evenly spread with a rubber spatula. The batter will be pretty thick and sticky so make sure you spread it as evenly as possible.
Preheat the oven to 425 degrees. Let the crust bake for 15 minutes or until it looks golden brown.
After the first 15 minutes, take the crust out and flip it over and let is bake for another 5 minutes on the opposite side.
The last step is to remove it from the oven and let it cool for about 10 minutes.
After it has cooled, serve it with all your favorite toppings! Enjoy!
